2020 Toyota Highlander: Redesign, Changes, Arrival

Toyota’s reliable, mid-size, three-row Highlander crossover
SUV is faced now with many updated, redesigned or newly-introduced models. Ford
revealed recently the heavily-improved Explorer and the Highlander has also the
updated Honda Pilot and Buick Encore in the sight but also the newcomers such
as the Kia Telluride, Subaru Ascent and Hyundai Palisade. The all-new
Highlander arrived for 2014 and received the mid-update for the 2017 version.
Toyota has, however, been caught testing the new-generation 2020 Toyota
Highlander recently.

Details about the fifth-generation Highlander are still scarce but the three-row family hauler should grow in size and move on the new platform. The styling should also see the revisions in accordance to brand’s latest design language while model should also come with the heavily reworked interior and newest tech, comfort and safety features. The powertrain range should again include the gasoline and electrified versions.

2020 Toyota Highlander

2020 Toyota Highlander: Design, Platform

Toyota is prepping the new 2020 Toyota Highlander and like
many of its recent models, the version will be based on the stretched version
of the TNGA modular platform which forms also the base of the models like the
CH-R, Avalon, Camry, RAV4, etc. With the Toyota Global New architecture, the
Highlander should provide better performance and flexibility plus weigh less
while the prototype versions suggest also the enlarged dimensions.

Form the visual point of view, it seems that the test
version hides the styling similar to what we can see on recently all-new RAV4.
The styling cues we saw initially on the FT-AC concept model should be applied
to the new Highlander as well. That should mean hexagonal grille design
combined with swept-back headlights and dynamic front bumper style.

The profile seems also to be coming with the trapezoidal
shaped fender flares and cleaner lines. The rear will also receive the new
taillights and resculpted tailgate and rear bumper.

Interior, Equipment:

Inside the cabin, we should expect more passenger and cargo
space as the prototype version seem to have stretched wheelbase and length. The
current Highlander provides max cargo capacity of 84 cubes and just 14 cubic
feet with the all seats functional.

The new Highlander will also arrive with the new interior
design and upgraded materials and textures. The model should use similar dash
elements placement as the RAV4 with the center screen sitting atop the middle
of the dash and new air vents.

The new generation version will also adopt the latest Entune infotainment platform with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The safety will also be updated to the latest Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite with the sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, etc.

2020 Toyota Highlander

2020 Toyota Highlander: Powertrain

No details have leaked yet about the powertrain Toyota will
use in the new generation 2020 Toyota Highlander.

The range should include the four-cylinder and V-6 gasoline
units like in the current version and the electrified option as well. The
possible candidates should be the units from the mid-size Camry sedan. A
2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with power around 200 hp and the V-6 unit with
the potential around 300 hp. Both engines should come in the combination with
the 8-speed automatic transmission.

The hybrid could combine updated 3.5-liter V-6 engine with
the battery-powered electric motor for a slightly improved total output.

2020 Toyota Highlander: Arrival, Price

The new 2020 Toyota Highlander should debut in the second
half of 2019. The price will likely see a modest increase across the range.

2020 Subaru Forester: Specs, Design, Price

The compact Subaru Forester crossover SUV is one in the lineup of brand’s recently redesigned high-riding models. The 2019 Forester adopted the Subaru Global platform and also improved the interior comfort and utility. A more powerful engine and above average off-road capability should also be the selling point of the model but the newest Forester is also loaded with the latest tech and safety features.

The 2020 Subaru Forester will continue to benefit on the recent redesign and there won’t be major upgrades for several years. Subaru will revisit the equipment offer and add several new options like the new body colors and wheel design. The trim range will likely stay the same.

2020 Subaru Forester

2020 Subaru Forester: Design

To the second model year of its fifth-generation version, the 2020 Subaru Forester will enter with the minimal changes in all aspects. The thorough redesign last year brought structural and visual upgrades although the latter is not the large departure from the previous version.

The newest generation Forester is based on the Subaru Global platform which is also the foundation of other models like the Impreza, Crosstrek and Ascent.  The model is also set on the slightly longer wheelbase which measures 105.1 inches in contrast to 103.9 inches in the previous generation version. The benefit is the increased interior and cargo capacity.

The styling of the model is angular and with brand’s latest styling elements. The model has a brand’s signature grille style and lighting units with the C-shaped pattern. The 8.7 inches of the ground clearance and rugged sheet metal give it strong presence but the Forester isn’t surely among the prettiest crossovers in the market.

Interior, equipment:

The 2020 Forester will appear with the same design and largely unchanged equipment offer. The model will provide a very comfortable rear row and up to 76.1 cubes for the cargo space.

The model will also come with the latest tech features and upgrades. Every model will offer a modern infotainment system with the Apple Car Play and Android Auto support. The Eye Sigh driver assists package will also be the part of all versions. The package covers systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and emergency braking. The higher trim safety upgrades will include blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic, lane change assist and rear automatic braking.

2020 Subaru Forester

2020 Subaru Forester: Performance

The fifth generation Forester changed to the Global Subaru platform which provides more composed ride while significant ground clearance and standard all-wheel drive system ensure above the average off-road talent.

The model also discontinued the turbo-4 engine from the previous version in favor to the new, slightly more powerful 2.5-liter boxer engine. This engine employs higher compression, active valve control and direct injection. The 2020 Subaru Forester will also get this engine and power and torque from it of 182 hp and 176 lb-ft. In the combination with the engine and all-wheel traction will be the continuously variable transmission.

The Forester will also provide among the best fuel economy among the all-wheel-drive versions with the gasoline engine. The model should return 26 mpg city and 33 highways.

2020 Subaru Forester: Release, Price

The 2020 Subaru Forester will be available in late 2019. The base Forester will start at around $24, 000 and move to the mid-30, 000 in the best-equipped version.

Audi’s family-friendly Q7 has recently got a more aggressive, coupe-like style counterpart which carries the Q8 badge. The three-row Q7 was the all-new for the 2017 model year and arrived almost unchanged for the 2018 version. There won’t be major changes for the 2019 Audi Q7 as well.

The model delivers premium interior quality and comfort and also offers cutting-edge tech and safety features. For the new model year, it should get a few standard equipment extras and more accessible crash avoidance techs. The engine options, exterior, and interior design will return familiar.

The aluminum-intensive Q7 is responsive and agile on the road and it will return with the same mechanics for the 2019 model year.

The barely-enough 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine will remain the base option. This engine produces 252 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. All Q7s are with the 8-speed automatic and Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

More adequate and capable is a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 and it now makes 333 hp and torque of 325 lb-ft. This engine will allow more of towing and passing power while will accelerate to 60 mph in around 5.7 seconds.

The model will also offer the air suspension while both powertrains should deliver around 21 mpg combined fuel economy.

A 4.4-twin-turbo V-8 in the XDrive50i version will down the 60-mph run to 4.6 seconds. It will be possible thanks to the output of 456 hp and torque of 479 pound-feet.

As for the new plug-in hybrid version, if it arrives as the 2020 model, the system will combine the 3.0-liter inline-6 combustion engine and the electric motor. The part of the system will also be the 8-speed automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive. The high-voltage lithium-ion battery will also have its place in the setup in the underbody area. The new hybrid version should double the electric range of the previous version and provide the total mileage close to 50 miles.

The M version should boost the performance with the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 to somewhere around 600 hp and 553 pound-feet of torque.

2020 BMW X5

2020 BMW X5: Design

The styling of the 2020 BMW X5 and the new versions won’t change much from the form of the recently redesigned X5.

The X5 changed the platform and dimension for the new generation. The model also evolved the brand’s signature styling with the more sculpted and angular cues and also added the larger version grille. The LED headlights are available on all versions and also have a new design.

2020 Audi Q4: News, Design, Engines, Release

The weaves of new SUVs continue to splash each Auto Show but the new prototypes of the high-riding models are constantly being seen on the roads as well.  Audi has recently been spotted testing the refreshed Q7 model but the all-new model with the “four rings” is also in the works. After the recent introduction of the flagship Q8 model, Audi will bring the new, smaller example of the Q-range in the showrooms for the 2020 model year. The 2020 Audi Q4 is set to take place between the Q3 and Q5 models in brand’s range of SUVs and will be the rival for models like the BMW X4 and Mercedes GLC coupe.

The new Q4 model will be the couple-like derivative of the Q3 and two models will share the platform, engines and equipment. The model will offer a number of powertrain options depending on the market and eventually get the PHEV variant during the life cycle. The new coupe style crossover will also get the latest tech and safety gear.

2020 Audi Q4

2020 Audi Q4: Design

Audi hinted the arrival of the Q4 model with the TT Off-Road Concept at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show and a recently caught prototype of the model seems to have the production-ready form. The new Q-range Audi should hit the market as the 2020 model and it should borrow heavily from the Q3 version.

Although we heard from Audi that the Q4 won’t just be the coupe version of the Q3 yet more distinctive model, two models will share ubiquitous MQB platform much of the gear. The Q4 could, however, ride on the slightly longer wheelbase than the Q3.

As for the styling, the prototype version reveals more angular shape than on the Q3 with the coupe-style profile. The front section includes familiar, single-frame grille and pair of the Led headlights with the shape similar to what we can see on the Q3 model.

Thanks to the fast-sloping roofline the model looks more aggressive from the profile than the conventional shaped Q3 and a more sculpted tailgate add also to the sportier appearance.

Interior, Equipment:

Behind the steering wheel, the new Q4 should also borrow heavily from the Q3 and recent brand’s models. The horizontally oriented lines and shapes combined with the electronic devices will dominate on the dash. Audi will also employ high-end materials, aluminum and wood trim to improve the look and feel of the interior.

The model will also arrive with the latest tech and safety achievements and convenience upgrades. The new Q-range Audi will adopt the brand’s latest 9.2-inch infotainment display as well as the 10.25-inch instrument cluster. Audi will also equip the new coupe-like crossover with the advanced safety technologies and systems like adaptive cruise control, active lane assists and blind spot monitors.

2020 Audi Q4

2020 Audi Q4: Powertrains

Power for the new 2020 Audi Q4 should come from the various engine options depending on the market. The MQB platform allows also the PHEV powertrain application but it remains the possibility in the latter phase of the life cycle.

The model will utilize the new generation 1.5-liter four-cylinder TSI engines with two outputs around 128 and 148 hp respectively. The upgraded 2.0-liter TDI diesels will also appear on the Old Continent and should produce 148 and 187 hp.

The version for the US will likely adopt single 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine. The high-performance RS Q4 version should also feature and use a 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo engine with the power around 400 hp.

2020 Audi Q4: Arrival, Price

The new 2020 Audi Q4 should debut at the 2019 Frankfurt Auto Show. The first price estimation puts the coupe-like Audi at around $37, 000.

debuted for the 2017 model year and replaced the old-nomenclature Cadillac SRX.
For the fourth model year after the current generation launch, the XT5 model
will get the mid-cycle update and available details suggest usual styling
updates of one mid-update.

The 2020 Cadillac XT5 will switch from the current grille
design to the new style inspired by the 2016 Escala Concept. The new grille
should provide a more elegant style while it seems that the model will keep the
same headlights design. The shape and size of the model will also keep the
current form and the profile will also look familiar.

The rear will also display a new signature of tealights
while the rest should keep the same style and contours.

surely repeat the currently only available 3.6-liter V-6 engine. This unit is
also under the hood of the new XT6 and makes 310 hp and torque of 271
pound-feet.

The reports suggest, however, the introduction of the GM’s
new 9-speed automatic transmission. The big update could also be an addition of
the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine which is available in other markets.
The version of the engine in China makes 258 hp where the brand offers also the
mild-hybrid system but no information appeared suggesting this possibility for
the US market.

2020 Cadillac XT5: Release, Price

The 2020 Cadillac XT5 should make the premiere in the coming
months with the on-sale date later in the year. The new upgrades should also
lift the price slightly.

2020 Bentley Bentayga: New version, Design, Release

Bentley’s first attempt in the ever-growing SUV market has
proven successful and to keep the focus on the model brand is now working on
the new upgrades. After the recent introduction of the electrified version,
Bentley will add a new, high-performance version to the range and the
additional Bentayga will be the new range-topper.

The model was spotted while testing and we should expect more aggressively styled Bentayga with the upgraded suspension and W-12 engine. The new version will arrive as the 2020 Bentley Bentayga and with the Speed nomenclature. Bentley hasn’t revealed performance and details of the new Speed version and keeps also potential upgrades of the current range under the wraps. However, there shouldn’t be big news for the current versions.

2020 Bentley Bentayga

2020 Bentley Bentayga: Design

Styled with the British sense for aesthetics, the Bentley
Bentayga is instantly recognizable on the road. The aluminum-bodied SUV has
elegant shape and lines and styling elements are a familiar story from brand’s
earlier models.  The trapezoidal mesh
grille and rounded headlights define the face of the model while the profile
gets attention thanks to the sculpted fender flares and elegant roofline. The
rear has a nicely fitted bumper and squared taillights with attractive
graphics.

The 2020 Bentley Bentayga will keep the same styling of the
currently available versions while the new, Speed variant will add a more
sporty flair.  The spy shots reveal the
version with the lower ride height and more aggressive front-end style. The
larger intakes and front splitter define a more aggressive approach up front while
new rear diffuser and larger rear spoiler contribute to the rear section style.

Interior, Equipment:

The new Bentayga Speed will also add some unique details
inside the cabin but we don’t have insight into its cabin yet.  The already available versions should
continue in the familiar forms.

The ultra-luxury Bentayga will provide more than a dozen leather shades, multiple wood textures and interior configurations. plug-in hybrid powertrains while the new version should bring some performance
and suspension upgrades.

The new Speed version should also use a 6.0-liter
twin-turbocharged W-12 engine as the reports claim. However, the Bentayga Speed
should lift the horsepower count to somewhere around 650 hp. The W-12 engine
provides 600 hp and 663 pound-feet of torque in the base configuration which is
enough for the 60 mph in just 4 seconds. The new version, with the retuned
suspension, aerodynamic upgrades and more horsepower will go to the 3 seconds
range.

bi-turbo V-6 combined with the advanced electric motor and electric range

The front-wheel-drive-based small crossovers should also return the same-number-of-cylinders engine options with the possible plug-in hybrid introduction. More details will emerge closer to the launch date.

2020 BMW X1

2020 BMW X1: Refreshed look

The new 2020 BMW X1 will bring some visual refreshments and there won’t be radical changes. The prototype version has the swirly camo on the sections of the front and rear sides while the profile remains undisguised.

Obviously, the usual mid-update changes will appear with the new version. The model will gain the new headlights and taillights but both seem to have the similar shape while changes the internal pattern.

The kidney grille version also changes in line with the most recent high-riding models in the range and the front bumper is also the part of the refresh. The rear bumper will also get a slightly restyled form but overall BMW’s first crossover in the range won’t change the styling radically.

Interior, equipment:

As for the interior design and available equipment, the revised X1 will also come in the line with recently revised models from the brand.

The model should get the new steering wheel, gear shifter and iDrive system. A bit larger center display should appear and BMW might also add the new digital instrument cluster. Expect also the rearview camera and automatic emergency braking to become the standard equipment.

2020 BMW X1

2020 BMW X1: Powertrains

The engine range of the new 2020 BMW X1 will again consist of the 3- and 4-cylinder options depending on the market. No details about the performance yet but the power range should vary between 116 and 230 hp.

The version in the US will again get the turbo-4 unit with the 8-speed automatic transmission and standard two-wheel drive. The power on all four wheels will also be available but some sources suggest a new sub-200 hp engine option.

BMW might also offer the plug-in hybrid version. The X1 version in China has the setup with the 1.5-liter inline-3 turbo engine and the electric motor at the rear axle. The 10.7-kWh battery pack provides the range around 37 miles in this version. Some sort of this setup should also find the way to the new markets with the arrival of the next version or later.

2020 BMW X1: Release, Price

The new 2020 BMW X1 will debut in the first part of 2019 with the on-sale date next fall. A slight bump in the price range is expected. However, the base version will again stay close to $34, 000.

The smaller two-row Santa Fe Sport entered the fourth generation as the 2019 Santa Fe while the bigger, three-row Santa Fe was marketed as the 2019 Santa Fe XL. Now, the Hyundai Palisade is the new name and design for the successor of the Santa FE XL and the rival for the models like Subaru Ascent, Honda Pilot and Chevy Traverse.

The mid-size Palisade comes with the new, bold exterior design and spacious and well-equipped interior. The family-friendly crossover SUV offers the latest technologies and convenience features one would expect in this kind of vehicle nowadays. Powering the model is the Genesis-sourced V-6 and there is an available HTRAC all-wheel-drive system.

2020 Hyundai Palisade: Design

The all-new, mid-size 2020 Hyundai Palisade comes with the new bolder exterior design inspired by the latest crossovers in the brand’s range. The model has an eye-catchy grille with the more dynamic shape and mesh pattern. The sharp, split-style headlights also define the face of the new model while more sculpted lines and fenders also boost the visual impression. The Palisade has also the sculpted tailgate with the tall taillights. The model will ride on the 18-inch wheels as standard and the size will grow up to 20 inches in the top trims.

The replacement of the Santa Fe XL is also longer than the old-nameplate model for 3 inches while Hyundai stretched the wheelbase for 4 inches. The result is more space inside for the passengers and their cargo.

Interior, Equipment:

Inside the cabin, Hyundai maximizes the passenger space but provides also the latest tech and convenience features.

The model offers seats for up to eight and among the best-in-class rear seat legroom. Thanks to the longer body and 4 inches longer wheelbase, the Palisade provides more than 40 inches of the rear seat leg room and 31.4 inches of the leg room for the third-row passengers. The cargo space is also increased to 18 cubes with the all seats up and 45.8 cubes with the third-row fold flat.

The Palisade comes also with the driver-oriented dash design and provides two cup holders per passenger. The model includes also eight USBs, 10.3-inches infotainment screen, 12.3-inches digital instrument cluster, smartphone compatibility features, wireless charging, etc.

2020 Hyundai Palisade: Powertrain

The 2020 Hyundai Palisade debuts with the single engine option. Like in the Santa Fe XL, the model gets the V-6 engine under the hood but the 3.8-liter Genesis-sourced displacement changes the 3.3-liter V-6 unit. While the V-6 makes 290 hp in the Santa FE XL, the new 3.8-liter V-6 provides 291 hp and torque of 262 pound-feet in the new Palisade.

The power goes through the 8-speed automatic transmission to the front wheel by default. The HTRAC all-wheel drive will provide better traction and performance optionally. The model offers also the new Snow traction mode and locking differential.
