2020 Hyundai Palisade: Design, Specs, Release

The 2020 Hyundai Palisade is the new name in the brand’s portfolio that debuted at the 2018 LA Auto Show. However, the all-new model is essentially the replacement of the three-row Santa Fe XL. The smaller two-row Santa Fe Sport entered the fourth generation as the 2019 Santa Fe while the bigger, three-row Santa Fe was marketed as the 2019 Santa Fe XL. Now, the Hyundai Palisade is the new name and design for the successor of the Santa FE XL and the rival for the models like Subaru Ascent, Honda Pilot and Chevy Traverse.

The mid-size Palisade comes with the new, bold exterior design and spacious and well-equipped interior. The family-friendly crossover SUV offers the latest technologies and convenience features one would expect in this kind of vehicle nowadays. Powering the model is the Genesis-sourced V-6 and there is an available HTRAC all-wheel-drive system.

The all-new, mid-size 2020 Hyundai Palisade comes with the new bolder exterior design inspired by the latest crossovers in the brand’s range. The model offers seats for up to eight and among the best-in-class rear seat legroom. Thanks to the longer body and 4 inches longer wheelbase, the Palisade provides more than 40 inches of the rear seat leg room and 31.4 inches of the leg room for the third-row passengers. The cargo space is also increased to 18 cubes with the all seats up and 45.8 cubes with the third-row fold flat.

The Palisade comes also with the driver-oriented dash design and provides two cup holders per passenger. The model includes also eight USBs, 10.3-inches infotainment screen, 12.3-inches digital instrument cluster, smartphone compatibility features, wireless charging, etc.

The safety is also following the trends in the industry. The three-row Palisade comes equipped with the adaptive cruise control, lane centering, automatic emergency braking, child lock, etc.

The 2020 Hyundai Palisade debuts with the single engine option. Like in the Santa Fe XL, the model gets the V-6 engine under the hood but the 3.8-liter Genesis-sourced displacement changes the 3.3-liter V-6 unit. While the V-6 makes 290 hp in the Santa FE XL, the new 3.8-liter V-6 provides 291 hp and torque of 262 pound-feet in the new Palisade.

The compact Subaru Forester crossover SUV is one in the lineup of brand’s recently redesigned high-riding models. The 2019 Forester adopted the Subaru Global platform and also improved the interior comfort and utility. A more powerful engine and above average off-road capability should also be the selling point of the model but the newest Forester is also loaded with the latest tech and safety features.

The Eye Sigh driver assists package will also be the part of all versions. The package covers systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and emergency braking. The higher trim safety upgrades will include blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic, lane change assist and rear automatic braking.

2019 Nissan Xterra: News, Design, Release

With the recently redesigned Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco in the prospect, body-on-frame, off-road-focused SUVs gained the interest of buyers again. That is why Nissan might reconsider the return of the discontinued, off-road ready Nissan Xterra. The model based on the aged mid-size Frontier truck might return after the introduction of the new-generation Frontier and with the design inspired by the global Navara truck.

The rumors are circulating that after the introduction of the body-on-frame, seven-seat Terra SUV based on the Navara pickup truck in China and other Asian markets, Nissan might also offer the successor of the Xterra model alongside the redesigned Frontier truck. The new Terra SUV replaced the Paladin model which was the Xterra version for the Chinese market.  Now, since this model is based on global Navara truck which should be the base for the new-generation Frontier, there are chances that Nissan might introduce the replacement for the capable Xterra as well. According to some reports, the model could even arrive as the 2019 Nissan Xterra or without the X.

As the last version of the Xterra model was based on the same architecture as the Frontier pickup, the new 2019 Nissan Xterra should also use the same recipe. Nissan hasn’t revealed details but the new Frontier truck should borrow heavily from the global Navara truck and the Terra SUV available in Asia also uses the Navara’s proven underpinning which also underpins the Mercedes X-Class pickup. And like the new Ranger truck shares the bones with the global model and will borrow the chassis to the new Bronco the global Navara should be the base of the 2019 Xterra or Terra or however it would be called.

With the similar underpinning, the new Xterra model should also share similar styling cues with the global Navara truck and Terra seven-seater. That means the new version of the V-motion grille combined with the new LED-accentuated headlights and sleeker front bumper. The side body sculpting should have pronounced fender flares and dynamic waistline.

Inside the cabin, the design should also follow the pattern of the global, mid-size truck. That should mean nicer materials and better comfort compared the dated Frontier truck and discontinued Xterra SUV.

The V-shaped center stack should come with the newest infotainment system and connectivity options. The model should also offer the luxury options and modern safety gear as well.

As for the engine options, the 2019 Nissan Xterra should share the same units as the new generation Frontier. Nissan promised the new V-6 engine for the redesigned Frontier and Titian trucks. The Xterra model would also use the same engine as well as the four-cylinder variant.

The global Navara-based Terra SUV goes with the petrol or diesel engines depending on the market. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder making around 183 hp is under the hood of the Chinese version. In other markets, this model can be had with the 2.3-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine from the Navara truck with 163 or 190 horsepower. The V-6 petrol is also available in some regions.

The US Xterra could also gain the diesel engine as this trend also was introduced with the new mid-size trucks. The new transmission should also improve the efficiency and off-road gear would be up to the task as well.

Ford’s premium sub-brand has been in the offensive with the new and updated models since the introduction of the Continental sedan. The Lincoln Nautilus, mid-size, two-row crossover is the new nameplate, styling, improved efficiency and safety of the Edge-based and previously named MKX model. The restyled and renamed model was the part of the mid-update of the Lincoln MKX.

For the 2020 Lincoln Nautilus, the things will remain the same as now. Lincoln won’t come with the major modifications after the recent update and the model will offer the same options as well. The Nautilus crossover will return with the fresh styling and two turbocharged power units. It will also offer nicely-styled and well-equipped cabins.

The 2020 Lincoln Nautilus will continue to live on the recent styling updates and on the same structure. To the new decade, the 2020 Lincoln Nautilus will continue with turbocharged units from the current version.

The crossover will have a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine as the base power unit. The engine is the pair with the standard 8-speed automatic transmission. The power it delivers will be 245 hp and torque 280 pound-feet.

The fuel efficiency for this power combo will be 23 mpg combined with two-wheel drive and 22 mpg combined with the power on all wheels.

The next level of performance will provide a 2.7-liter bi-turbo V-6. The number of the gears is the same as on the base version while the all-wheel drive is mandatory. But the power and torque ratings will be at 335 hp and 380 pound-feet while the fuel economy around 21 mpg combined.

The iconic, off-road capable Mercedes G-Class has finally
got the first full redesign in the decades-long run. The new version arrived as
the 2019 model and while Mercedes retained the familiar presence of the model
the comprehensive upgrades in all aspects brought the model to the modern era.

The newest G-Wagen is larger and got serious interior
updates. The model switched also to the new underpinning for more ride comfort
on the paved roads while Mercers claims also enhanced off-road capability.  The new-gen G-Class has also the new
transmission unit and two versions of the twin-turbo V-8 engine provide
enormous power and torque in the base and AMG-branded versions. The unique SUV
employs also plenty of other hardcore hardware and systems for the off-road
challenges but equips also modern tech features.

For the new model year and the 2020 Mercedes-Benz G-Class version, the brand won’t come up many changes. The new version could appear with the unique exterior and interior pieces and Mercedes will likely offer the new body color and package options.

Mercedes redesigned the G-Wagen model from the ground up but hasn’t gambled with the look of the model. The new generation version remains the tall, slab-sided SUV but the model has more elegant lines and bears the new grille version in the combination with the new headlights.

structural upgrades and while 154 pounds lighter the model has a 34 percent
stiffer frame.  With the new
double-wishbone, independent suspension replaced the solid front axle the model
provides also better on-road comfort while won’t lack the off-road capacity.

For the 2020 Mercedes-Benz G-Class version, Mercedes will
likely offer new body shades and new special edition version. There won’t be significant
changes after the recent redesign.

Interior, Equipment:

Inside the cabin, the boxy SUV is a huge step forward in
both comforts and modern tech availability. The new generation G-Glass is both
longer and wider and gained 5.9 inches of additional rear seat legroom.

Mercedes equipped also the military-DNA SUV with the premium
comfort and tech features and the next version won’t bring many new details in
that regard.

employ two bi-turbo V-8 engines. The base 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine will

automatic transmission and four-wheel drive, this version will hit 60 mph in
5.8 seconds.

The AMG G63 version will boost the performance of the V-8

With the independent front suspension, electric power
steering and available adaptive damping, the G-Class SUV will also ride well on
the paved roads. For the off-road adventure, the model will have the help of

high approach and departure angles will also provide skills for the hardcore
off-roading.

The dashboard comes with the duo of 12.3-inch screens covered with the glass panel. One display provides configurable information for the driver and the center screen manages infotainment, navigation, seat features, etc. The newest version of the MBUX system added about 40 new features, as Mercedes says.

The model also offers high-comfort features and functions and different leather options. The modern, active safety systems are also the part of the all-new GLE. The SUV will come with the automatic emergency braking with the pedestrian detection and blind spot monitoring in every version.

On the performance front, the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE will come with two potent, turbocharged engines and various drivetrain options.

The base GLE350 will have a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood. The engine makes 255 horsepower and torque of 273 pound-feet. The pair with the engines is the 9-speed automatic transmission and the rear-wheel drive is standard. The 4Matic four-wheel drive will also be available with both engine options.

The more potent option is a 3.0-liter turbo straight-6 engine combined with the 48-Volt mild-hybrid system. The GLE450 with the inline-6 engine provides 355 hp and torque of 369 pound-feet. The mild-hybrid system assists with additional 22 pound-feet. The GLE450’s all-wheel-drive system can distribute 100 percent of power between the axles.

Suspension, MPG

The car will also come with three suspension options. The normal setup will provide smooth and predictable drive while the AirMatic will improve with the adaptive damping. The next-level suspension will be possible thanks to the combination of the E-Active body Control and AirMatic damping. The system uses the radar and camera which scan the road ahead and prepares the suspension based on the road configuration. The system assists also while steering and adjusts the suspension height and leans the body into corners for easier control.

As for the performance of the versions, the turbo-four-powered model can hit 60 mph in 7.1 seconds. The turbo inline-6 engine boasts better score with the 5.5 seconds on the counter.

The new GLE can tow up to 3, 500 pounds. The fuel economy should land around 30 mpg highway in the GLE350 version. The more powerful GLE450 should return about 27 mpg highway.

The redesigned 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE will be available for the buyers in the next spring while the destiny of the coupe version is still unclear.

The new GLE will go against the strong rivals such as the Acura MDX, BMW X5, Volvo XC90, Porsche Cayenne, Land Rovers, etc.

The price is yet to be revealed. According to some estimations, the more sophisticated Mercedes GLE should go for about $56, 000 in its base variant.

After the investment of about $1.3 billion and hours of testing and designing, JLR has brought the all-new Evoque in front of the public. The brand’s fast-selling and smallest SUV benefits from the improvements on all fronts but still remains recognizable form.

The second-generation 2020 Range Rover Evoque comes on the new platform and with the almost all-new body structure. The model improves also the interior comfort combining it with the top-notch tech and safety technologies. The look is also sleeker and more elegant while there are also more efficient and powerful powertrains.

The redesigned, second generation 2020 Range Rover Evoque started the transformation with the new platform and body structure. The Premium Transverse Architecture is intended for brand’s smaller models with the goal of providing better electrification and performance. The new platform is the mixed-material construction with the high strength and regular steel, aluminum and magnesium in the mix. The new design opens the door for the mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid technologies as well as for the Ingenium family of engines.

With the new underpinning, the redesigned Evoque also sports the sleeker Velar-inspired look and a 90 percent of the body structure is also new. The new body is placed on 0.8 inches longer wheelbase. This translates to more rear legroom but with the shorter overhangs, the model is actually slightly shorter.

Styling:

The look of the new Evoque is the evolution of the current design with the obvious similarities with the Velar SUV. The same basic look remains in the combination with the sloping roofline and high beltline. The models gained, however, the new grille and headlights and redesigned lower openings. The slim grille version has the honeycomb pattern and comes with the narrow, nicely accentuated headlights.

The model has also the smooth body lines and flush door handles. The sculpted fenders add a bit of the contrast to the flat panels. The rear side is also fresh with the new two-piece taillights.

The brand will offer the new Evoque with nice contrasting body painting options and wheel sizes ranging from 17- 21 inches.

Interior, equipment:

The interior of the new Evoque comes with the improved comfort and the latest technologies. The stretched wheelbase opens more space for the rear passengers and the new seats also boost the comfort. With the increased passenger comfort, the new Evoque improved also the cargo area to 50.5 cubic feet.

The handsome look of the model is matched with the high-quality materials and rich textures inside the cabin. The model also gained the Touch Pro Duo touchscreen system with the pair of 10.2-inch screens which debuted in the Velar model. The Evoque provides also Apple Car Play and Android Auto support. In front of the driver is a 12.-3 digital instrument cluster and there is also the head-up display projecting the information on the windshield.  The newly added ground view camera also provides the picture of what is underneath and ahead of the front wheels.

The power for the new 2020 Range Rover Evoque comes from the two powertrain options in the US while the diesel options will appear on the Old Continent.

The base Evoque will use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ingenium engine. The unit makes 246 hp and torque of 369 lb-ft compared to the previous version 237 hp and torque of 251 lb-ft. In the combination with the engine is a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

The option will be a P300 version with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The power it provides is 296 hp and the MHEV system. Using also the 14.7-hp belt-integrated generator it provides 6 percent improved efficiency and improved torque response.

JLR hasn’t confirmed yet the plug-in hybrid powertrain for the US which will appear in Europe next year. The system will integrate the 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with the power output of 197 hp in the combination with the starter generator and electric motor. The 40.2-hp generator will power the front wheels while the 106-hp electric motor will spin the rear wheels and get the power from the 11.3- kWh battery.

The model also features the new-generation all-wheel-drive system which can transfer the power between the rear wheels simulating the torque vectoring and can also lock the rear wheels. The Terrain Select 2 system will also be available with the modes for Sand, Mud, Snow, Eco, etc. The SUV boasts also lifted ground clearance. The 8.3 inches of the ground clearance comes with the 20-degree approach and 30-degree departure angles while can go through the 23.6-inch deep water.

The 2020 Range Rover Evoque will go on sale in the US next year after the debut at the next Chicago Auto Show. We will know the price after the debut but it should go slightly up from the current base $42, 000.

2020 Toyota Highlander: Redesign, Changes, Arrival

Toyota’s reliable, mid-size, three-row Highlander crossover
SUV is faced now with many updated, redesigned or newly-introduced models. Ford
revealed recently the heavily-improved Explorer and the Highlander has also the
updated Honda Pilot and Buick Encore in the sight but also the newcomers such
as the Kia Telluride, Subaru Ascent and Hyundai Palisade. The all-new
Highlander arrived for 2014 and received the mid-update for the 2017 version.
Toyota has, however, been caught testing the new-generation 2020 Toyota
Highlander recently.

Details about the fifth-generation Highlander are still scarce but the three-row family hauler should grow in size and move on the new platform. The styling should also see the revisions in accordance to brand’s latest design language while model should also come with the heavily reworked interior and newest tech, comfort and safety features. The powertrain range should again include the gasoline and electrified versions.

Toyota is prepping the new 2020 Toyota Highlander and like
many of its recent models, the version will be based on the stretched version
of the TNGA modular platform which forms also the base of the models like the
CH-R, Avalon, Camry, RAV4, etc. With the Toyota Global New architecture, the
Highlander should provide better performance and flexibility plus weigh less
while the prototype versions suggest also the enlarged dimensions.

Form the visual point of view, it seems that the test
version hides the styling similar to what we can see on recently all-new RAV4.
The styling cues we saw initially on the FT-AC concept model should be applied
to the new Highlander as well. That should mean hexagonal grille design
combined with swept-back headlights and dynamic front bumper style. 

The profile seems also to be coming with the trapezoidal
shaped fender flares and cleaner lines. The rear will also receive the new
taillights and resculpted tailgate and rear bumper.

Interior, Equipment:

Inside the cabin, we should expect more passenger and cargo
space as the prototype version seem to have stretched wheelbase and length. The
current Highlander provides max cargo capacity of 84 cubes and just 14 cubic
feet with the all seats functional.

The new Highlander will also arrive with the new interior
design and upgraded materials and textures. The model should use similar dash
elements placement as the RAV4 with the center screen sitting atop the middle
of the dash and new air vents.

The new generation version will also adopt the latest Entune infotainment platform with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The safety will also be updated to the latest Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite with the sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, etc.

2020 Toyota Highlander: Powertrain

No details have leaked yet about the powertrain Toyota will
use in the new generation 2020 Toyota Highlander.   

The range should include the four-cylinder and V-6 gasoline
units like in the current version and the electrified option as well. The
possible candidates should be the units from the mid-size Camry sedan. A
2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with power around 200 hp and the V-6 unit with
the potential around 300 hp. Both engines should come in the combination with
the 8-speed automatic transmission. 

The hybrid could combine updated 3.5-liter V-6 engine with
the battery-powered electric motor for a slightly improved total output.

Mercedes’ well-selling GLC compact, luxury SUV competes with
many high-value rivals including the Acura RDX, BMW X3, Audi Q5, Porsche Macan
and Jaguar F-Pace. The GLC was all -new for the 2016 model year and Mercedes is
now prepping some updates to keep the model fresh and competitive. Available in
many powertrain options including the plug-in hybrid and high-performance AMG
versions, the GLC covers a wide range of demands and Mercedes provides, of
course, the best of the comfort and teach features.

However, the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC will receive the mid-cycle update with the changes on model’s appearance and interior. The brand will also upgrade the tech features and add several new elements as the latest reports claim. There should, however, be some performance upgrades in the lineup as well.

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC: Design

The compact-sized 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC will get some
visual upgrades for the new model year and as it is usually with the
mid-update, the brand will intervene on the easy-removable parts while will
keep the model in the current shape and size.

The front section of the model will come with the tweaked
grille version and the headlights are also under revision. The new front
lighting units seem slightly smaller and with the new daytime running lights.
The lower front fascia will also get slightly different style and the rear will
also introduce similar treatment. The refreshed taillights will also be the
part of the mid-update and the recently introduced AMG 63 versions should also come
with the similar changes.

Interior, Equipment:

Inside the cockpit, the refreshed Mercedes GLC will bring
the new three-spoke steering wheel with more controls. Mercedes will also
upgrade the infotainment system but won’t introduce the MBUX platform that
debuted in the A-Class. Instead, the GLC model will get the system available in
the updated C-Class. The system will include a larger center screen and updated
system’s interface plus the new touchpad in the center console.

The model will also put the larger screen in front of the driver and Mercedes will also upgrade the array of the advanced safety systems.

With the updated styling and interior, the 2020
Mercedes-Benz GLC will also come with some improvements in the powertrain
range. Mercedes hasn’t yet revealed exact details but the changes should
reflect those done on the updated C-Class.

The base powertrain with the 2.0-liter turbocharged
four-cylinder engine should move the number of horsepower from the current 241
to around 255.

A potent 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 from the AMG GLC 43
should boast improved horsepower number as well. The current 362 hp should see
the boost to 385 hp which should improve the 60-mph run from the current 4.8
seconds to lower 4-second range.

The recently added AMG GLC 63 and the plug-in hybrid
versions should keep the current performance.

2020 Honda Passport: Design, Specs, Equipment, Price

Honda has recently revived the Passport nameplate and the model takes the form of the two-row crossover SUV with the “soft off-road” capability and plenty of interior space. The Passport model fills the gap between the compact CR-V and mid-size Pilot in the brand’s formidable crossover SUV range. The model shares plenty of style, interior features and mechanics with the Pilot SUV and the production takes place at the factory in Lincoln, Alabama where the three-row Pilot is being assembled as well.

Honda will offer the 2020 Honda Passport with the single engine option like the mid-size Pilot and the range of trims will also be familiar. The two-row Passport will go on sale in four trims including Sport, EX-L, Touring ould and Elite. The model will provide the same towing capability as the larger Pilot while will be more capable for the off-road adventures. There will also be the latest tech and safety systems and several premium features.

The 2020 Honda Passport shares the platform with the Pilot SUV and Ridgeline pickup and the model uses also the similar mechanic elements.

The Passport is, however, sized for the transportation of up to five people and provides plenty of cargo thanks to the clever interior design. The model measures 190,5 inches from bumper to bumper while rides on the 111-inch wheelbase. The wheelbase is identical to that of the larger Pilot but the Passport is 6 inches shorter while has a 10-inch longer footprint than the compact CR-V.

Form the visual perspective, the model looks like the shrunken Pilot with the similar shape and styling elements. The shape of the grille and the headlights are similar to the latest vehicles from Honda. The Passport has also nice creases on the hood and dynamic character line on the side panels.

The model improves also the off-road capability with the lifted ride height and taller wheel arches than the larger Pilot. The Passport has the ride height of 8.4 inches and boasts also the better approach and departure angles than the larger cousin. The approach angle is 21,4 degrees and departure 27, 6 inches.

Interior, Equipment:

Inside the cabin, the Passport uses the design familiar from the larger Pilot and offer a similar equipment range. The same wheelbase as the three-row Pilot provides, however, competitive passenger and cargo space.  With the all five seats in function, the model provides 41,2 cubes of the cargo room while with no passengers in the rear row the capacity shrinks to 100 cubes. The model has also a number of storage compartments and plenty of the legroom in both rows.

As for the available equipment, the base model starts with the cloth upholstery, LED headlights, keyless ignition, etc. The standard equipment includes also the 7-inch TFT instrument cluster display, a 5-inch center screen, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, etc. The EX-L adds an 8-inch touchscreen with the smartphone support, leather upholstery, power tailgate, heated front seats, etc. The Touring improves with the heated rear seats, wi-fi hotspot, parking sensors, etc. The range-topping version has the cooled seats, heated steering wheel, unique trim accents and more.

Honda makes also the Passport safer with the standard systems like the adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, active lane control and lane departure warning. The blind-spot monitoring becomes the standard equipment in the EX-L and upper grades.

The 2020 Honda Passport adopts the Pilot-based underpinning and the same engine as well. A 3.5-liter V-6 makes 280 hp and torque of 262 pound-feet. The 9-speed automatic transmission sends the power to the front wheel by default. The available four-wheel drive and improved ride height compared to the three-row Pilot and combined with the shorter overhangs boost the off-road capability over the Pilot’s but the Passport remains the soft off-roader.

The Passport will also provide the good towing capability. The same platform and mechanics mean the same towing ratings as the Pilot SUV. The front-wheel-drive Passport allows up to 3, 500 pounds of towing. With the power on all wheels, the model can tow up to 5, 000 pounds.
