2020 BMW X5 M: News, Design, Engine, Price

The all-new BMW X5 is here for the 2019 model year and the model entered the new generation with the larger body and more interior room and comfort. The popular SUV packs also the advanced technology and top-notch convenience features but has also the high-performance gear.

However, the BMW X5 is still unfinished business as more versions are set to come. BMW will deliver the plug-in hybrid version with about 40 miles of electric range for the 2021 model year. But, for the higher adrenaline drive buyers will also get the M division-branded model. The high-performance model should arrive as the 2020 BMW X5 M and was already spotted several times while testing. BMW hides, however, the most important details. The engine is known but we don’t have official details about the performance. The same engine will also power the coupe-like X6 M version and more M-branded BMW s will appear in near future including the X3 and X4 high-riding models.

2020 BMW X5 M: Powertrain

The recently redesigned X5 can already be had with the mighty twin-turbo V-8 engine which takes the place under the hood of the xDrive50i version. The 4.4-liter bi-turbo engine makes 456 hp and torque of 479 pound-feet which is enough to launch this model to 60 mph in 4,6 seconds.

The 2020 BMW X5 M will also pack the 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8 under the hood but the heavily revised version of this engine will add more ponies to the count. The M division X5 version should produce around 600 hp and torque around 533 pound-feet. The Competition version could add additional power hitting around 625 hp.

The model will use an 8-speed automatic transmission routing the power to the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The sophisticated system debuted in the new M5 and we will see how it performs in the X5. The X5 M will also get the special-tuned suspension and unique wheel and exhaust system combined with the powerful braking system.

Like the 2019 BMW X5, the M division version will benefit from the use of the modular, lightweight CLAR platform and apply the same design language as the conventional X5 but with additional performance-oriented touches.

The 2020 BMW X5 M will get more attention thanks to the beefier front bumper with larger air openings from the front side and the rear will also get special treatment. The rear bumper and quad exhaust setup will add sportier appearance to the rear side and unique 21-inch alloy wheels and M division mirrors will also distinguish this version from the rest of the range.

Interior, Equipment:

The interior of the model will adopt the same design and layout as the conventional version with a few unique touches. The sports seats and premium sound system will be in the equipment list and the performance SUV will also get the brand’s latest infotainment and safety equipment.

Bentley’s first attempt in the ever-growing SUV market has
proven successful and to keep the focus on the model brand is now working on
the new upgrades. After the recent introduction of the electrified version,
Bentley will add a new, high-performance version to the range and the
additional Bentayga will be the new range-topper.

The model was spotted while testing and we should expect more aggressively styled Bentayga with the upgraded suspension and W-12 engine. The new version will arrive as the 2020 Bentley Bentayga and with the Speed nomenclature. Bentley hasn’t revealed performance and details of the new Speed version and keeps also potential upgrades of the current range under the wraps. However, there shouldn’t be big news for the current versions.

Styled with the British sense for aesthetics, the Bentley
Bentayga is instantly recognizable on the road. The aluminum-bodied SUV has
elegant shape and lines and styling elements are a familiar story from brand’s
earlier models.  The trapezoidal mesh
grille and rounded headlights define the face of the model while the profile
gets attention thanks to the sculpted fender flares and elegant roofline. The
rear has a nicely fitted bumper and squared taillights with attractive
graphics.

The 2020 Bentley Bentayga will keep the same styling of the
currently available versions while the new, Speed variant will add a more
sporty flair.  The spy shots reveal the
version with the lower ride height and more aggressive front-end style. The
larger intakes and front splitter define a more aggressive approach up front while
new rear diffuser and larger rear spoiler contribute to the rear section style.

Interior, Equipment:

The new Bentayga Speed will also add some unique details
inside the cabin but we don’t have insight into its cabin yet.  The already available versions should
continue in the familiar forms.

The ultra-luxury Bentayga will provide more than a dozen leather shades, multiple wood textures and interior configurations. The model will come with the tri-zone climate control with rear seat controls, an 8-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi, standard leather upholstery, a sunroof, eighteen speakers, and more. Every trim version will provide an extensive range of customization options. The model will also equip the latest tech for the crash prevention and avoidance. The systems monitoring the ride and assisting the driver will be active lane control, blind spot monitors, automatic emergency braking, night vision, parking assist, etc.

The new 2020 Bentley Bentayga will repeat the current W-12 and
plug-in hybrid powertrains while the new version should bring some performance
and suspension upgrades.

The new Speed version should also use a 6.0-liter
twin-turbocharged W-12 engine as the reports claim. However, the Bentayga Speed
should lift the horsepower count to somewhere around 650 hp. The W-12 engine
provides 600 hp and 663 pound-feet of torque in the base configuration which is
enough for the 60 mph in just 4 seconds. The new version, with the retuned
suspension, aerodynamic upgrades and more horsepower will go to the 3 seconds
range.

The plug-in hybrid version will return with the 3.0-liter
bi-turbo V-6 combined with the advanced electric motor and electric range
around 31 miles.

first half of 2019. The models will go on sale as the 2020 Bentley Bentayga in
the second part of the year. The new model will again start slightly below
$200, 000.  

2019 BMW X1: Refreshed, Changes, Price

BMW’s first in the lineup and fun to drive crossover, the X1 has been around since the 2016 model year in its second generation. With the fierce competition from Audi and Mercedes, BMW must keep the model fresh and the firm was spotted while testing the updated X1. The model will go on sale at some point in 2019 while should show what it has to offer later this year.

The 2019 BMW X1 will bring some visual upgrades, not radical judging by what we can conclude from the prototype version. Some updates will also be inside the cabin including the materials and tech while we don’t have details about what BMW has in mind regarding the powertrains.

The small package crossover won’t bring radical styling changes with the next refresh. The prototype version of the 2019 BMW X1 has disguised front end section and rear bumper and like every mid-cycle update, this will also focus on the soft parts while the size and shape will remain at the same points.

The front side of the model seems to have sleeker kidney grille version bracketed by the new design headlights. The headlight graphics look like on brand’s latest models and the front bumper has slightly different sculpting as well.

The profile will display the same form with the sharp rising crease while the rear will also go with the tweaked bumper and the new graphics taillights.

Interior, Equipment:

In the cockpit, the small crossover BMW should offer fresh materials and new textures.  Expect the new steering wheel as well.

BMW will also do some improvements to the infotainment system and connectivity features while could also boost the safety technology.

The X1 will be well-equipped from the start and offer fog lights, automatic wipers, 18-inch wheels, driver memory setting, power tailgate, adjustable front seats and more as the base gear. The buyers will also be able to update with the M Sport design, sports suspension, premiums surround sound system, and more.

No details yet about BMW’s intents regarding the powertrain and potential upgrades. In the US the X1 packs the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with the 8-speed automatic transmission. The two- and four-drive are both available while the model returns around 25 mpg combined fuel economy.

With the capability of delivering 228 hp and 258 lb-ft combined with the precise steering and suspension, the model provides great driving dynamics but BMW will surely try to draw more from the refreshed 2019 BMW X1. So, we should expect some efficiency and performance improvements.

The plug-in hybrid version of this model is also expected sometime in the near future but not for the upcoming model year.

BMW is constantly working on its growing SUV range and has again been caught testing the new-generation, 2020 BMW X6. The redesign of the coupe-like styled, mid-size SUV follows naturally the recent makeover of the conventionally shaped X5 and again two models will share most nuts and bolts.

The third-generation X6 has been testing on the roads for a while and we saw the base version and the M body kit version. What we should expect is the all-new X6 based on the new platform and with the mechanics similar to the closest relative X5. The interior design and available tech will also borrow heavily from the X5 while the new more aggressive exterior will also adapt the cues from the X4 model.

The redesigned 2020 BMW X6 isn’t yet ready to ditch the camo but we can detect the direction the new version follows. The full-body camo can’t hide model’s more muscular shape and the cues from both the latest X4 and X5.

The front section of the model will get the new and enlarged version of the kidney grille and in the combination with the new headlights with the similar design pattern as on the latest BMWs. The laser headlights with the X-shape elements will also go to the production. The model will also get the redesigned rear end with the cues from the X4 model.

The BMW X6 M version will boost the performance and the look with the M body kit and equipment. The front fascia of this version will use the sportier front bumper with larger air intakes and more sculpted low section. The large, high-performance wheels, massive Brembo brakes and quad exhaust setup will also boost the presence of the M version.

The new X6 will, more importantly, switch to the new CLAR platform which should improve the drive, structural rigidly and provide reduced weight. Like the X5 model, the coupe variant could stretch the length and width as well.

The interior of the new X6 hasn’t yet been in focus of the spy camera but the cabin design shouldn’t stray far from what we have in the new X5. The similar dash design and layout will appear in the X6 as well as the high-tech features from the popular conventionally shaped, mid-size SUV.

The new X6 will offer the digital instrument panel and the driver-focused center cluster with BMW’s newest infotainment platform. The coupe-like SUV will lack some of the rear seat comforts as it prioritizes style but will include all the electronic driver aids we can find in the brand’s new models.

As for the engine options, the new 2020 BMW X6 should go with the similar solutions as the recently redesigned X5.

The powertrain range should start with the 3.0-liter inline-6 turbo with 335 horses and 330 lb-ft of torque. Following the xDrive40i version should be an xDrive50i model with the 4.4-liter turbo V-8 with the power around 456 hp and torque reaching 479 lb-ft of torque.

The X6 M version should rely on the 4.4-liter bi-turbo V-8 and get from it around 600 hp and torque of 553 lb-ft. The plug-in hybrid version should also appear later in the life cycle.

After the investment of about $1.3 billion and hours of testing and designing, JLR has brought the all-new Evoque in front of the public. The brand’s fast-selling and smallest SUV benefits from the improvements on all fronts but still remains recognizable form.

The second-generation 2020 Range Rover Evoque comes on the new platform and with the almost all-new body structure. The model improves also the interior comfort combining it with the top-notch tech and safety technologies. The look is also sleeker and more elegant while there are also more efficient and powerful powertrains.

The redesigned, second generation 2020 Range Rover Evoque started the transformation with the new platform and body structure. The Premium Transverse Architecture is intended for brand’s smaller models with the goal of providing better electrification and performance. The new platform is the mixed-material construction with the high strength and regular steel, aluminum and magnesium in the mix. The new design opens the door for the mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid technologies as well as for the Ingenium family of engines.

With the new underpinning, the redesigned Evoque also sports the sleeker Velar-inspired look and a 90 percent of the body structure is also new. The new body is placed on 0.8 inches longer wheelbase. This translates to more rear legroom but with the shorter overhangs, the model is actually slightly shorter.

Styling:

The look of the new Evoque is the evolution of the current design with the obvious similarities with the Velar SUV. The same basic look remains in the combination with the sloping roofline and high beltline. The models gained, however, the new grille and headlights and redesigned lower openings. The slim grille version has the honeycomb pattern and comes with the narrow, nicely accentuated headlights.

The model has also the smooth body lines and flush door handles. The sculpted fenders add a bit of the contrast to the flat panels. The rear side is also fresh with the new two-piece taillights.

The brand will offer the new Evoque with nice contrasting body painting options and wheel sizes ranging from 17- 21 inches.

Interior, equipment:

The interior of the new Evoque comes with the improved comfort and the latest technologies. The stretched wheelbase opens more space for the rear passengers and the new seats also boost the comfort. With the increased passenger comfort, the new Evoque improved also the cargo area to 50.5 cubic feet.

The handsome look of the model is matched with the high-quality materials and rich textures inside the cabin. The model also gained the Touch Pro Duo touchscreen system with the pair of 10.2-inch screens which debuted in the Velar model. The Evoque provides also Apple Car Play and Android Auto support. In front of the driver is a 12.-3 digital instrument cluster and there is also the head-up display projecting the information on the windshield.  The newly added ground view camera also provides the picture of what is underneath and ahead of the front wheels.

The power for the new 2020 Range Rover Evoque comes from the two powertrain options in the US while the diesel options will appear on the Old Continent.

The base Evoque will use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ingenium engine. The unit makes 246 hp and torque of 369 lb-ft compared to the previous version 237 hp and torque of 251 lb-ft. In the combination with the engine is a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

The option will be a P300 version with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The power it provides is 296 hp and the MHEV system. Using also the 14.7-hp belt-integrated generator it provides 6 percent improved efficiency and improved torque response.

JLR hasn’t confirmed yet the plug-in hybrid powertrain for the US which will appear in Europe next year. The system will integrate the 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with the power output of 197 hp in the combination with the starter generator and electric motor. The 40.2-hp generator will power the front wheels while the 106-hp electric motor will spin the rear wheels and get the power from the 11.3- kWh battery.

The model also features the new-generation all-wheel-drive system which can transfer the power between the rear wheels simulating the torque vectoring and can also lock the rear wheels. The Terrain Select 2 system will also be available with the modes for Sand, Mud, Snow, Eco, etc. The SUV boasts also lifted ground clearance. The 8.3 inches of the ground clearance comes with the 20-degree approach and 30-degree departure angles while can go through the 23.6-inch deep water.

The 2020 Range Rover Evoque will go on sale in the US next year after the debut at the next Chicago Auto Show. We will know the price after the debut but it should go slightly up from the current base $42, 000.

2020 Toyota Highlander: Redesign, Changes, Arrival

Toyota’s reliable, mid-size, three-row Highlander crossover
SUV is faced now with many updated, redesigned or newly-introduced models. Ford
revealed recently the heavily-improved Explorer and the Highlander has also the
updated Honda Pilot and Buick Encore in the sight but also the newcomers such
as the Kia Telluride, Subaru Ascent and Hyundai Palisade. The all-new
Highlander arrived for 2014 and received the mid-update for the 2017 version.
Toyota has, however, been caught testing the new-generation 2020 Toyota
Highlander recently.

Details about the fifth-generation Highlander are still scarce but the three-row family hauler should grow in size and move on the new platform. The styling should also see the revisions in accordance to brand’s latest design language while model should also come with the heavily reworked interior and newest tech, comfort and safety features. The powertrain range should again include the gasoline and electrified versions.

Toyota is prepping the new 2020 Toyota Highlander and like
many of its recent models, the version will be based on the stretched version
of the TNGA modular platform which forms also the base of the models like the
CH-R, Avalon, Camry, RAV4, etc. With the Toyota Global New architecture, the
Highlander should provide better performance and flexibility plus weigh less
while the prototype versions suggest also the enlarged dimensions.

Form the visual point of view, it seems that the test
version hides the styling similar to what we can see on recently all-new RAV4.
The styling cues we saw initially on the FT-AC concept model should be applied
to the new Highlander as well. That should mean hexagonal grille design
combined with swept-back headlights and dynamic front bumper style. 

The profile seems also to be coming with the trapezoidal
shaped fender flares and cleaner lines. The rear will also receive the new
taillights and resculpted tailgate and rear bumper.

Interior, Equipment:

Inside the cabin, we should expect more passenger and cargo
space as the prototype version seem to have stretched wheelbase and length. The
current Highlander provides max cargo capacity of 84 cubes and just 14 cubic
feet with the all seats functional.

The new Highlander will also arrive with the new interior
design and upgraded materials and textures. The model should use similar dash
elements placement as the RAV4 with the center screen sitting atop the middle
of the dash and new air vents.

The new generation version will also adopt the latest Entune infotainment platform with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The safety will also be updated to the latest Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite with the sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, etc.

No details have leaked yet about the powertrain Toyota will
use in the new generation 2020 Toyota Highlander.   

The range should include the four-cylinder and V-6 gasoline
units like in the current version and the electrified option as well. The
possible candidates should be the units from the mid-size Camry sedan. A
2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with power around 200 hp and the V-6 unit with
the potential around 300 hp. Both engines should come in the combination with
the 8-speed automatic transmission. 

The hybrid could combine updated 3.5-liter V-6 engine with
the battery-powered electric motor for a slightly improved total output.

half of 2019. The price will likely see a modest increase across the range.

2020 Buick Encore: Redesign, Changes, Release

Buick is working on the new generation Encore model and the
latest spy photos are the proof. The brand’s smallest, subcompact crossover has
proven on the market and Buick will try to support its increasing sales with
the new design and features. The model was all-new in 2013 and after the
refresh for 2017, the 2020 Buick Encore will enter the second generation.

Buick hasn’t yet disclosed what changes the new Encore hides under the camo but we should expect extensive upgrades in all aspects. The model will arrive on the upgraded platform and with the new exterior and cabin design. The new tech and convenience features will also appear in the redesigned version. The next Encore should, however, return with the same engine displacement while pairing it with the new automatic transmission. The twined version of the Encore, the Opel Mokka X goes on sale in the overseas market.

Details about the redesigned 2020 Buick Encore are still
scarce and it isn’t yet clear what platform the model will use. The current GM
Gamma II Platform is shared with the current Mokka X and Chevy Trax and while
the new Mokka X will be based on PSA Group’s CMP small car platform, the new
Encore could borrow it under license or GM will use its underpinning for both
small Buick and Chevy models.

On the other hand, based on the spy photos, the new Encore
seems to have a slightly larger body which could also mean longer wheelbase and
more interior space. However, the new version will stay in the subcompact class
and therefore there won’t be big dimension changes.

The changes in model’s styling are also hard to identify. The rising beltline and slightly resculpted fender flares can be detected. Buick’s latest design language will define the styles of the grille and lighting units and they should be similar to what we can see on brand’s latest models. The tailgate seems also reshaped slightly and the roof line also looks slightly longer.

Interior, equipment:

Inside the cabin of the smallest Buick crossover, we should
expect the new center cluster and instrument panel. Buick will also employ new
materials and textures and improve seat comfort.

The new generation version will also come with the new
connectivity and upgraded driver aids. All versions will use the latest
infotainment system with smartphone support and the model will also equip
keyless entry and ignition, power driver seat, and more in the base version.
The upper grades will add more sophisticated materials and comfort features.
The active driver aids should appear in more trims and with upgraded features.

It is also possible the inclusion of the high-class Avenir trim with the unique exterior and interior details and top-notch materials and electronic aids.

In the engine department, the new 2020 Buick Encore should
repeat a 1.4-liter engine displacement. A turbocharged unit is available in two
outputs in the current version with the base model producing 138 hp and more
powerful generating 153 hp. However, Buick should replace the current 6-speed
automatic transmission with the new 9-gear setup with possible upgrades to the
performance and efficiency.

The model will arrive again with the front- and all-wheel
drive. The fuel economy should remain around 30 mpg combined.

The recent refresh brought reduced prices and more standard safety tech. Toyota also refreshed the styling of the popular model and the interior also benefits from the improved quality and tech. The engine range was also revised depending on the market but the refreshed Prado can tow more.

The Prado also has narrow, swept-back headlights with nice accents and Toyota’s grille with large vertical slats.

The boxy SUV also has sculpted fenders while the rear includes the spare wheel, massive rear bumper, and nice taillights.

Inside the cabin, the Prado also rates better since the recent refresh. The high-quality interior provides great comfort and modern tech and convenience features. The model has clean dash design with easy-to-use switchgear and protruding center screen interface.

The Pardo also offers plenty of upscale equipment and buyers get the ventilated and power seats while also can opt the heated rear row.  The leather-accented padding also looks nice and provides great comfort.

Toyota also thinks about the safety and the Prado comes with the modern active safety tech. The off-road SUV has standard safety equipment including lane departure warning, active cruise control, and automatic high beams. The blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert is also available.

Toyota canceled the 4.0-liter V-6 engine in some markets since the recent refresh. Most of the 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will go with the 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel engine. With the six-speed automatic gearbox and capable four-wheel drive system, the Prado will have 174 hp (130 kW) and toque od 450 Nm at disposal. The manual transmission will also be available but will reduce the torque to 420 Nm.

A full-time, low range 4WD system will provide impressive off-road capability and the Pardo will also be able to tow significant loads. With the recent towing upgrade, the model will allow up to 3, 000 kg.

2020 Mercedes-Benz G-Class: Design, Specs, Price

The iconic, off-road capable Mercedes G-Class has finally
got the first full redesign in the decades-long run. The new version arrived as
the 2019 model and while Mercedes retained the familiar presence of the model
the comprehensive upgrades in all aspects brought the model to the modern era.

The newest G-Wagen is larger and got serious interior
updates. The model switched also to the new underpinning for more ride comfort
on the paved roads while Mercers claims also enhanced off-road capability.  The new-gen G-Class has also the new
transmission unit and two versions of the twin-turbo V-8 engine provide
enormous power and torque in the base and AMG-branded versions. The unique SUV
employs also plenty of other hardcore hardware and systems for the off-road
challenges but equips also modern tech features.

For the new model year and the 2020 Mercedes-Benz G-Class version, the brand won’t come up many changes. The new version could appear with the unique exterior and interior pieces and Mercedes will likely offer the new body color and package options.

Mercedes redesigned the G-Wagen model from the ground up but hasn’t gambled with the look of the model. The new generation version remains the tall, slab-sided SUV but the model has more elegant lines and bears the new grille version in the combination with the new headlights.

More importantly, the body-on-frame SUV gained some
structural upgrades and while 154 pounds lighter the model has a 34 percent
stiffer frame.  With the new
double-wishbone, independent suspension replaced the solid front axle the model
provides also better on-road comfort while won’t lack the off-road capacity.

For the 2020 Mercedes-Benz G-Class version, Mercedes will
likely offer new body shades and new special edition version. There won’t be significant
changes after the recent redesign.

Inside the cabin, the boxy SUV is a huge step forward in
both comforts and modern tech availability. The new generation G-Glass is both
longer and wider and gained 5.9 inches of additional rear seat legroom.

Mercedes equipped also the military-DNA SUV with the premium
comfort and tech features and the next version won’t bring many new details in
that regard.

For the power delivery, the 2020 Mercedes-Benz G-Class will
employ two bi-turbo V-8 engines. The base 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine will
provide 416 horsepower and torque of 450 lb-ft. Teamed with the 9-speed
automatic transmission and four-wheel drive, this version will hit 60 mph in
5.8 seconds.

The AMG G63 version will boost the performance of the V-8
engine to 577 hp and peak torque of 627 lb-ft. With that potential under the
hood, this version will reduce the 60mph-run to 4.4 seconds.

With the independent front suspension, electric power
steering and available adaptive damping, the G-Class SUV will also ride well on
the paved roads. For the off-road adventure, the model will have the help of
the 4Matic all-wheel drive with low-range gearing and three locking
differentials. Different driving modes and impressive ride height combined with
high approach and departure angles will also provide skills for the hardcore
off-roading.

Honda has recently revived the Passport nameplate and the model takes the form of the two-row crossover SUV with the “soft off-road” capability and plenty of interior space. The Passport model fills the gap between the compact CR-V and mid-size Pilot in the brand’s formidable crossover SUV range. The model shares plenty of style, interior features and mechanics with the Pilot SUV and the production takes place at the factory in Lincoln, Alabama where the three-row Pilot is being assembled as well.

Honda will offer the 2020 Honda Passport with the single engine option like the mid-size Pilot and the range of trims will also be familiar. The two-row Passport will go on sale in four trims including Sport, EX-L, Touring ould and Elite. The model will provide the same towing capability as the larger Pilot while will be more capable for the off-road adventures. There will also be the latest tech and safety systems and several premium features.

The 2020 Honda Passport shares the platform with the Pilot SUV and Ridgeline pickup and the model uses also the similar mechanic elements.

The Passport is, however, sized for the transportation of up to five people and provides plenty of cargo thanks to the clever interior design. The model measures 190,5 inches from bumper to bumper while rides on the 111-inch wheelbase. The wheelbase is identical to that of the larger Pilot but the Passport is 6 inches shorter while has a 10-inch longer footprint than the compact CR-V.

Form the visual perspective, the model looks like the shrunken Pilot with the similar shape and styling elements. The shape of the grille and the headlights are similar to the latest vehicles from Honda. The Passport has also nice creases on the hood and dynamic character line on the side panels.

The model improves also the off-road capability with the lifted ride height and taller wheel arches than the larger Pilot. The Passport has the ride height of 8.4 inches and boasts also the better approach and departure angles than the larger cousin. The approach angle is 21,4 degrees and departure 27, 6 inches.

Interior, Equipment:

Inside the cabin, the Passport uses the design familiar from the larger Pilot and offer a similar equipment range. The same wheelbase as the three-row Pilot provides, however, competitive passenger and cargo space.  With the all five seats in function, the model provides 41,2 cubes of the cargo room while with no passengers in the rear row the capacity shrinks to 100 cubes. The model has also a number of storage compartments and plenty of the legroom in both rows.

As for the available equipment, the base model starts with the cloth upholstery, LED headlights, keyless ignition, etc. The standard equipment includes also the 7-inch TFT instrument cluster display, a 5-inch center screen, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, etc. The EX-L adds an 8-inch touchscreen with the smartphone support, leather upholstery, power tailgate, heated front seats, etc. The Touring improves with the heated rear seats, wi-fi hotspot, parking sensors, etc. The range-topping version has the cooled seats, heated steering wheel, unique trim accents and more.

Honda makes also the Passport safer with the standard systems like the adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, active lane control and lane departure warning. The blind-spot monitoring becomes the standard equipment in the EX-L and upper grades.

The 2020 Honda Passport adopts the Pilot-based underpinning and the same engine as well. A 3.5-liter V-6 makes 280 hp and torque of 262 pound-feet. The 9-speed automatic transmission sends the power to the front wheel by default. The available four-wheel drive and improved ride height compared to the three-row Pilot and combined with the shorter overhangs boost the off-road capability over the Pilot’s but the Passport remains the soft off-roader.

The Passport will also provide the good towing capability. The same platform and mechanics mean the same towing ratings as the Pilot SUV. The front-wheel-drive Passport allows up to 3, 500 pounds of towing. With the power on all wheels, the model can tow up to 5, 000 pounds.

Honda hasn’t revealed the price of the 2020 Honda Passport but we should expect the starting point just under $30, 000. The on-sale date will be early next year.
