5 Ways I Lost 10 Pounds Painlessly

I have been looking for different ways to get healthier and eat better.  It wasn't really my goal to lose weight as much as to just get a little healthier and be a better example for my kids.

I have a friend who is taking part in a deal with coworkers to lose weight and get healthy.  she has been been doing awesome. She's eating right and working out. As a single woman it's a little easier for her with only one mouth to feed, no bedtimes to adhere to, and no picky eaters.  But she has been my inspiration, along with my sister.

1.  First thing I did was cut out as much junk as I normally eat. I have a weakness for Turkey Hill peanut butter chocolate icecream. I can't resist buying it when it's on sale and then I can't resist eating it when it's at the house. So I resist buying it because it's easier to not have it at the house at all. I did this with a lot of unhealthy snacks. If I don't have it here I normally opt to eat a healthier snack. Cottage cheese and tomatoes are my new best friends!

2.  Next I realized that I was eating at fast food more than I should be. I was eating it 2-3 times a week. Not only is it expensive but it's terrible for me. I limit it as much as possible and only get it at most once a week. I want to cut it out entirely but I feel like I'm constantly running and sometimes I just can't get organized to pack lunches for 3 kids and myself.

3.  Third is I have cut my portion size. This sounds easy. It's not at all. I use smaller plates when possible. Think about an average meal size at a restaurant. You probably only should be eating about half of that. I still slip up on this one, but I'm more honest with myself about it.

4.  Next thing I do is fill my meals with veggies. The kids are definitely more picky so I will give them the noodles or potatoes that they like and I'll replace mine with salad. I have found that I love raw red, yellow, and orange bell peppers.  I have never been a big fan of them, but once I started eating them, I can't get enough.  Just remember that you can't eat too many veggies!

5.  Last but not least, I stopped using flavored creamer in my coffee.  I went through big withdrawals on this one.  I love my coffee and I love it with creamer in it.  I will give you a tip how bad this stuff is for you...if you leave it out in a cup it turns into a plastic like substance.  That cannot be healthy!  I lost 3 pounds just cutting out creamer.  Instead I use regular sugar and milk and it is still good coffee.

It really isn't as much of a diet as just being more conscious of what I am putting into my body.  I still slip up, I still eat ice cream, and I am sure that I would lose more weight more quickly if I would focus more and incorporate exercise into my day, but I am feeling pretty good and am excited to be at the lowest weight I have been in years.

What are your tips and tricks?
