I don't know about you, but I have never watched a rocket launch! I didn't even know there was one going on until a friend of mine mentioned it to me. The Minoraur 1 Rocket launched tonight at 8:15pm and the launch process started at 7:30pm. I told Z and he was so excited he couldn't wait until 7:30!
At 7:00 we looked it up online and found a site Space.com. You could watch it live, but there wasn't anything going on except a rocket sitting in one spot! My sister started watching and found another website www.spaceflightnow.com. They had live feed also but with sound and you could hear them doing their check off list. It was really neat to watch the count down.
On space.com it only said that it would launch sometime between 7:30pm and 9:30pm, but once we started watching Spaceflight Now, we found out that it would launch at 8:15pm.
At 7:30 we started watching it more intently and listening to the checklist.
At T Minus 12 minutes we went outside with the computer and waited for the blast off! Z was so excited he could barely contain himself!
At the countdown we watched the blast off on the computer and then ran into the yard to see if we could see it! We did and it was pretty small, but very cool!
I am super excited that I finally got to see a rocket launch and even more excited that Z gets to say that he saw his first rocket launch at the age of 4.
Have you ever seen a rocket launch?
