Teaching Toddlers Thursday- Farm Animals

It is that time again!  What have you done with your toddler lately?  This week's toddler curriculum was farm animals.  The weather is getting nicer and fall is here so focusing on farm animals seemed like a good idea.

Songs we sang:
Old McDonald
Z made up farm animal noise songs

Books we read:
Duck & Goose 123 by Tad Hills
Baby Animals by Sirett
Duckling by DK Publishing
One Rainy Day by Tammi Salzano

We had a lot of fun this week and the highlight of our week was going to a petting zoo.  They saw goats, sheep, chickens, roosters, ducks, donkeys, llamas, pigs, and geese.  They got to see first hand the animals and hear the noises they make.

We made chicks using paper, googly eyes, and handprints.  K picked out his own googly eyes and Z says that one must still be growing since it is smaller!

We used contact paper to make cotton ball sheep.  I cut out sheep outlines out of contact paper and glued them to construction paper.  I outlined them in black marker and glued on a googly eye.  The kids stuck the cotton balls to the contact paper and created a sheep.

I printed an outline of a cow and the kids dipped cotton balls into black paint to make spots on the cow.

I made the kids some toilet paper roll pigs and they love them.  K even took his pig on the swing to cuddle he liked it so much.

We made a lot of animal sounds this week and had a lot of fun!

Hope you will come back next week for Fall activities.

    1. I think we will be getting a zoo pass this week if the weather holds out. I think it will be a great place to go frequently.
