I have been planning to do this for some time now and it is on our Summer Bucket List, but this was the perfect opportunity. I had to cut the grass or I was going to lose the kids in the yard, and my husband had been working a lot, so I had to figure out a way to keep them occupied and contained while I cut.
I have this expandable playpen that is pretty large and it was the perfect solution. I decided they were going to have some mud fun!
I set up the play area with a water table and a play dishwasher. I filled them with dirt and added water. I used a bag of dirt that I got from the Dollar Store and made sure it didn't include any fertilizers or any added ingredients.
Needless to say, the kids were occupied! They had a blast. They played in the mud filled items and used rakes, shovels, cups, and anything that they could find.
After I was done cutting the grass I took the playpen down and they played in the mud across the whole back yard for the rest of the time.
It was such a great day and they had so much fun that they could barely keep their eyes open until bedtime!
In case you do this, dress them in something that you don't care gets ruined because mud apparently stains!
