How to Care for Sippy Cups

I don't know about you but I have a ton of Sippy cups and they are all different. Some have the rubber insert inside the lid, some have straws, and some have rubber tips where it comes completely out of the lid.

It's amazing all of the different kinds.

When I first used the ones with the lid insert I didn't read the directions, because it's a Sippy cup, how hard can it be right?! Wrong!

I had no idea that they had rubber inserts and one of the straw cups never did go back together right and I had to throw it out!

If you are like me, you might think that taking out the rubber top to the silicone tip cups every time you wash them won't make difference.  Well little did I know, it does! These things get nasty!

I only use the soft tip cups for water because they tend to leak the most when dropped (and we all know how often they get dropped, or thrown, or slammed down!).

This is a picture of a cup I had used for water one day and then put in the dishwasher without taking the insert out.  Yuck is the only word to describe it.

Needless to say, that is the last time I didn't take the insert out.  The collage below shows how all of the inserts come out, and you just put them back in the way they came out (or so they say).  The hardest ones to put back together are the straw cups and the silicone tip ones, but it can be done!

Good luck and happy sippy cup cleaning!
