Homemade Butterfly Costume

My son had a day at school where he was supposed to dress up like a bug.  I don't know about you, but I don't have any bug costumes just laying around.  He decided he wanted to be a butterfly.  His bug dance was Wednesday, so Tuesday we had to get on it!  We used supplies we had around the house to make it work.

Supplies:

Large Cardboard (our play set came in them)
Pom Pom Balls
Large Rubberbands
Duck Tape
Glue
Glitter
Pipe Cleaners
Headband
Paint rollers

I drew one side of the butterfly wings and cut it out and folded the cardboard over to make the sides equal.  I then used Elmer's glue to draw around the edges and Z put the glitter on.

Then he glued pom pom balls in the middle where he wanted it and painted with roll on paint to decorate it.

To make the wings so that he could wear them, I taped 2 large rubberbands in the middle of the other side and decorated the edges of that side with glitter also.

I used a headband and pipe cleaners to make the antennas.  I used a flexible headband because that is all that I had, but using a firm one would work better.

He went to school and showed off his homemade wings and was very proud because he made them.
