Recycling Batteries

This week's green tip will cover something small that can make a big difference!

Batteries!

Did you know that batteries contain toxic chemicals like lead, mercury and cadmium? If they end up in landfills the chemicals could leak into the ground affecting the coil and water.

Batteries have gotten less toxic over the years, but still contain some toxic chemicals that don't belong in landfills!

Our local libraries offer a recycling bin for household batteries like AA's, AAA's etc...
Cell phone batteries can be recycled at most Target stores.

Earth911.com has everything you need to know about what can be recycled.

Some surprising things that can be recycled are:

Paint
"dirty containers"  (containers with food stuff on them etc..)
Crayons
Wine Corks  (did you know Cork is a VERY green product to use?)
Hair
Holiday Lights
Trophys
CD's, DVD's, Cassette tapes
Surfboards

Please go to earth911.com for more detailed information about the items mentioned!

The Green Room Posts will change to once every 2 weeks, but if you have any questions, please email Leah at leahinspired7@gmail.com and I will get back to you!

Happy recycling!
