Friendship Seashell Necklace

In Arts & Crafts Community on Google + we were challenged to do a craft using only 2 supplies.  Last week when we went to the beach my son found a shell with a perfect hole in it.  I told him we could make a necklace out of it and this was the perfect challenge to do that!

I got a lot of thread at a yard sale last summer and it has just been sitting there ever since.  I had him pick out what colors he wanted and then I got to work.  The first necklace that I made was really neat and was flat.  Unfortunately I didn't cut the string long enough (it has been a long time since I made these!) so I had to cut the shell off and start again.

He had been begging me for it every day so I decided to make him the quicker version which is round.  I attached the shell in the middle and made sure I used extra string this time!

I tied a bead at the end so that I can 'latch' it.  He loves it, and the first one I made him fits my ankle so now we have matching friendship items!
